What is Pickleball?
It’s an addicting game with a crazy name and once you play it you will surely be hooked!
Pickleball was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, near Seattle, WA., by three fathers who needed a way to channel their kid’s energy and solve the “summertime blues, there’s nothing to do” issue. Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell and Barney McCallum came up with the idea of a game much like tennis or badminton. The game started on an asphalt badminton court and the dads quickly improvised with a wiffle-type ball, wooden rackets that resembled ping-pong paddles, and a lowered net. Read more...

Mission Statement
The Sun Lakes Pickleball Club IronOaks (SLPCIO) will promote programs that encourage participation in pickleball at all skill levels in accordance with the rules and standards of the USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) and the International Federation of Pickleball (IFP). The Club will provide active pickleball programs that include organized play, social play, league play, tournaments, intra-club events and inter-club events. The Club will promote fellowship and good sportsmanship among all members, and will provide activities for the enjoyment of all members. All IronOaks homeowners are encouraged to become SLPCIO members.
The SLPCIO shall adhere to IronOaks Homeowners Association rules and coordinate effectively with the IronOaks HOA’s Director of Pickleball and Tennis.
