After a brief break, the Sun Lakes Pickleball Club IronOaks is coming back. Many members have requested having a pickleball club again, and after several meetings with various players, it has been decided to promote the social club once again.  The club will consist of a 'committee' made up of volunteers, which will promote 6-8 social events per year, host round robins, fundraisers, leagues, etc.  Anyone purchasing an Amenity membership will automatically be a Club member for 2021.
To offset initial club costs, such as this website, we are requesting a small donation from each player.  You may drop your donations off in the Fitness Center (clearly marked PB CLUB) or mail your donation to IronOaks at Sun Lakes, 24218 S. Oakwood Blvd., Sun Lakes, AZ 85248 Attn: Jeff Vance. Any excess funds will be used towards our first social event.
If you are interested in serving on the Club committee, please email your interest to
As events are planned, updates will be made to the website so watch for more information to come!

New Court Construction process

After eight long years, IronOaks homeowners finally approved the construction of eight new pickleball courts.  In 2018, clay tennis courts were removed, due to deterioration and maintenance costs, and the construction of pickleball courts and 65 additional parking spaces began.  In January 2020, the grand opening of the courts was held. Pickleball currently has over 200 members and is growing rapidly!

Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell and Barney McCallum came up with the idea of a game much like tennis or badminton. The game started on an asphalt badminton court and the dads quickly improvised with a wiffle-type ball, wooden rackets that resembled ping-pong paddles, and a lowered net. Read more...
